White or off-white crystalline powder; odorless; initially tasteless but subsequently bitter; easily goes bad under light; insoluble in water. Hydrocortisone is a glucocorticoid either from synthesis or nature, the anti-inflammatory  of which effect is 1.25 times of cortisone, also with effects of immunosuppressive action, anti-poison, anti-shock and mineral corticoid and functions of keeping water and sodium & excluding potassium insides our body. Its plasma half-life period is 8-12 hs.
