White or off-white crystalline powder; odorless; bitter. Slightly soluble in ethanol and chloroform, practical insoluble in water. It belongs to adrenocortical hormone mainly is used for allergic and inflammatory diseases. Its effect is equal to prednison with strong anti-inflammatory action and weak water-electrolyte metabolism. It can be absorbed through gastrointestinal tract with half-life period of 200 min. It’s inappropriate for treatment of primary adrenocorticalm insufficiency on account of its weak mineral corticoid effect.
